Local business special: the first three local businesses get a Starter site for $500.

Answer

How much does a website cost for a contractor?

From me, $750 for a 5-page site, or $1,250 for a 12-page site built to show up when people nearby search for what you do. If you'd rather not pay up front, either one is available with nothing down: $99 or $149 a month for 12 months, and then it's paid off and yours.

After that, the only cost you can't avoid is the domain name, about $12 to $20 a year. Looking after the site is optional at $49 a month.

What the rest of the market charges

So you have something to compare against, here is what I found when I checked prices in October 2026:

  • Doing it yourself on a website builder: Wix starts at $17 a month and Squarespace at $16 a month billed yearly. You build and update it yourself. (websitesetup.org)
  • A freelancer: roughly $800 to $4,000 for a small business site; an agency, $2,000 to $10,000. (projectcostestimator.com, a cost estimator, July 2026)
  • Monthly plans aimed at contractors: about $99 to $250 a month. Footbridge Media, for example, charges $249 a month with no setup fee, and that includes Google profile work. (footbridgemedia.com)

My prices sit at the low end of the done-for-you range on purpose; I'd rather build a lot of good sites than a few expensive ones.

What changes the price

  1. How many pages. A Starter site is home, services, gallery, about and a request-an-estimate page. That's enough to look professional and catch people who already know your name.
  2. Whether it's built to be found. The Get-found site adds a page for each town you work in, a page for each main service, and pages that answer the questions people type into Google before they hire someone. Those pages are how a stranger in the next town finds you.
  3. Your reviews. If your reviews are spread across Google, Angi, Thumbtack and Facebook, pulling them onto one page takes a bit of work, and it's worth it.

What to check before you pay anyone

  • Who owns the site and the domain? Some monthly plans rent you the site, so it goes away when you stop paying. With me, the site sits on your own free hosting account and the domain is in your name.
  • How long is the contract? Ask what happens if you want to cancel in month three.
  • Can you see real sites they've built? You can click through two of mine on the homepage.

Common questions

Do I own the website?

Yes. The site is hosted on your own free account and the domain is registered in your name. If you stop working with me, it stays yours.

Is there a monthly fee?

Only if you want one. The domain name costs about $12 to $20 a year. The $49/month care plan, where I handle updates and new photos, is optional.

How long does it take?

Usually 1 to 2 weeks from when you send your photos and details.

Is there a discount for local businesses?

Yes. The first three local businesses get a Starter site for $500 instead of $750.
